This year's VIECC 2022 was organised by the Austria Exhibitions Experts GmbH will be organised at Messe Wien in Halls C & D.
After an unavoidable break due to the pandemic, Vienna Comic Con opened its doors again this year, but a month earlier than usual. Comic, gaming & anime fans came were able to enjoy an event of superlatives. The VIECC came in their usual manner and size in keeping with their positive reputation. 💥
What is actually the VIECC 2022
The Vienna Comic Con (short VIECC) is a Comic Convention, which is organised in the exhibition halls of Messe Wien. It is considered the largest Comic Con Austria and is an event for fans of the categories Comic, Gaming 🎮, anime, manga, Merch, Film 🎬, Artists and much more.
The family-friendly fair offers a wide range of options, from live performances and merchandise stands to stations to marvel at and take part in.
The VIECC is also a great meeting place for all cosplay enthusiasts - whether they are cosplayers themselves or photographers and filmographers. 📸
A cosplayer is someone who is dressed in a Role of another Characters and embodies it. 🦸♂️It does not matter Role, whether this Character from a video game, a comic book, a Film or is fictitious. Each of these cosplayers does this for one main reason: Fun.
It is completely irrelevant whether one physically, from the gender, skin type or other outward appearance does not match a character - this respectful community clearly represents the Fun and enthusiasm to the fore.
Directions and tickets to VIECC 2022
Accessibility of Messe Wien incl. train ticket
The journey was simple, yet more complicated than ich als Landmensch dachte. 🐮 Naiv glaubte ich, dass die Messe in der Nähe des Westbahnhofs sein müsse – dem war nicht so.
Trotzdem kein Grund zur Panik, denn mit der U-Bahn war das Event relativ einfach zu erreichen. Mit der U3 zuerst zum Stephansplatz, dann mit der U1 weiter zum Praterstern und vom Praterstern, dann mit der U2 eine Station weiter zur Messe Wien. (Alternativ kann man auch zu Fuß vom Praterstern zur Messe gehen – schadet der Gesundheit sicher nicht wirklich.)
Für die Fahrt nach Vienna haben wir uns für die Westbahn entschieden, denn wer früh genug bucht, kann für 4,99 EUR pro Strecke von Wels nach Vienna fahren. Das sind nicht ganz 10,- EUR und darum um ein Vielfaches günstiger als mit dem PKW. Westsuperpreis-Tickets kannst du hier abchecken. 🚂
Tickets für die VIECC 2022 🎟
Tickets could be purchased directly and easily from OETICKET purchase. A Saturday ticket at the normal price in the Vvk kostete 36,- EUR, ein Sonntagsticket 32,- EUR. The Wochenend-Ticket lag bei 60,- EUR und die VIP-Tickets reichten von 124,- EUR bis 500,- EUR.
Tickets, die bereits für die 2021 abgesagte VIECC erworben wurden, waren auch dieses Jahr völlig unkompliziert gültig.

Es waren einige bekannte Gesichter vertreten, mit denen man gegen eine Gebühr reden konnte, Autogramme bekam oder Fotos machen durfte. Die Guests findest du direkt auf der Website der VIECC – ich habe dir aber einen Auszug der Liste hier angeführt.

In addition to the actors mentioned above, there were also several comic artists and cosplay guests, Voice Actors - such as Hans-Georg Panczak (Narrator of Luke Skywalker). 🎤
For every visitor there was at least one Handful Star guests on site with whom you had a connection or a memory. The selection was really big and great.

Culinary delights and food trucks at VIECC 2022
The hungry guests were also well catered for. Due to the large crowds, it was unfortunately Challenge, somewhere something Edible to order - above all if you're as impatient as I am. The snakes were namely, also after lunchtime out, endlessly long and you were really put to the test here. ⏳
Unfortunately, I don't have a complete list of restaurateurs, but I was able to memorise a few. Regrettably was the selection of vegan products very small 🌱 - there were a few more vegetarian options. For meat lovers, there were many classic dishes that looked really good. 😋

That was the Vienna Comic Con 2022 for us - my Conclusion
Admittedly, it wasn't the first time we had been to a Comic Convention. Anyone who knows my past knows that I spent a lot of time at various conventions back then.
After a break of several years, it was once again a very nice Feeling, a Comiccon to experience and feel.
When we arrived at the convention, we felt Thousands people standing in an endless queue waiting enthusiastically to get in. have, finally to be allowed in. 🚪 Everything was very orderly and civilised as usual.
Once inside, the WOW feeling returned. A huge convention with mega many People, exhibitors, products and smells. Simply a feeling that I personally never had during the pandemic. The last time I saw a crowd like this was at other events in 2018.
It really was extremely busy - lots of visitors, lots of families and also lots of great Cosplayer from young to old. 👶👵 Cosplayer, who enthusiastically presented their costumes and were tirelessly photographed. Those who were still in the 2000sten photo could still smile.
Either it came only or the halls are already too small for a VIECC of this size. The crowds were able to only very sluggish The visitors were able to move through the aisles between the stands and there was no need to be afraid of contact.
And that's exactly what a VIECC is all about for me. Crowds of people, high-quality stands, great exhibitors, big brands and a friendly atmosphere.
Happy faces and bags filled with merchandise - that's when you know you've done everything right as an organiser.
Artists and clubs were also given a big stage here. Great theme clubs, Fan clubs and illustrators were represented with countless stands and their own areas, putting a huge smile on visitors' faces. 🫠

I still have a personal request.
I think it's a great pity that many visitors are tempted by retailers with mystery boxes and wonder bags and are disappointed afterwards because they spent a lot of money and didn't get what they had hoped for. Buy instead Goods that you have seen before, you would like to have and it gives you pleasure. That way, one or two things might not end up in the bin.
