We were at Veganmania 2023 on the Danube Island in Vienna in August - a very successful event for young and old, for vegans and those who are interested in veganism or just want to try it out!

🌞🌱 A sunny Sunday at Veganmania 2023 ☀️🥗 From 25 to 27 August 2023, my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of visiting Veganmania on the Danube Island. On this bright summer Sunday, the 27th of August, we were not only greeted by glorious weather, but also an exciting experience in vegan street food style. 🏝️🍔🥦

Although the sun was beating down relentlessly at times, the heat couldn't stop us from exploring this unique event and savouring the delicious vegan delights. We knew we were in for an unforgettable event that day, and it wasn't the first time we had attended such a vegan.at extravaganza.

Veganmania: a paradise for vegans

Veganmania, organised by the vegan.at initiative, is an annual event that attracts vegans from all over Austria and beyond. It usually takes place over a weekend, this year from 25 to 27 August 2023, and offers a wealth of vegan food, products and sustainable solutions.

During Veganmania, the Danube Island in Vienna is transformed into a true paradise for all those who value a plant-based diet and a sustainable lifestyle. Here, visitors will find numerous stalls and sales stands offering everything from delicious vegan burgers to handmade, environmentally friendly products.

The event is characterised not only by its wide range of culinary offerings, but also by its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. People of all genders, ages and backgrounds come together here to share their passion for healthy, environmentally friendly food and products.

The association & organiser

The event was organised by vegan.at

The „Vegan Society“ association now comprises a team of around 20 members. It deals with important topics such as environmental and climate protection and, of course, vegan nutrition. With various events such as Veganmania, Veggie Planet in Linz and Vegan Planet in Vienna, they create incredibly great events for people to get information or inspiration. We have already reported in detail about the Vegan Planet in Vienna 2022!

„The Vegan Society is a very active and successful environmental protection organisation with a focus on nutrition. We inspire people for climate-friendly nutrition and food production that tastes good, is fun and at the same time good for health and animals,“ is how the organisers describe themselves with one sentence on their website.

🌱 The diversity of Veganmania: culinary delights and more 🍔🥗

Veganmania, whether on the Danube Island or in Innsbruck, offers an impressive selection of culinary delights that will delight vegans and non-vegans alike. Here are some of the outstanding stalls and dishes you can discover during your visit:

• Veggiezz: This stand not only surprised us with delicious kebab platters, but also offered an impressive selection of other vegan delicacies. 🌯🍟
• Jablonski: Jablonski is a hotspot for delicious dishes that tantalise the taste buds. 🍛🍽️
• The plant nursery: Here you should definitely try the „Gustl Leverkas“, a vegan version of an Austrian classic that promises a taste of home. 🍖🇦🇹
• Carpe Diem: There were refreshing kombucha drinks here that you should definitely try. 🍹🍴

The culinary highlights are just one part of the Veganmania experience. During your visit, you can also enjoy live music 🎶, attend workshops 📚, and take part in live programmes 🎤. The live music creates a pleasant atmosphere and accompanies your culinary journey. The workshops offer a great opportunity to learn more about vegan nutrition and sustainable lifestyle, while the live programme provides additional entertainment.

Veganmania is not only a place to indulge your taste buds, but also to expand your knowledge and be creative. It is an event that inspires and brings together vegans and non-vegans alike. 🌟

My running club, Team Vegan.at, was also represented at Veganmania and offered information on the health benefits of veganism as well as tips on how to start a vegan lifestyle.

Directions - 🚆 Convenient journey to Veganmania: environmentally friendly and practical 🌍

Travelling to Veganmania was easy and environmentally friendly. We travelled from Attnang-Puchheim to Vienna to visit the event on the Danube Island. 🌆

Our journey began at Attnang-Puchheim station, from where we made our way to Vienna Central Station. 🚆

Once we arrived in Vienna, we used the underground to get to Danube Island. First, we took the U3 to Stephansplatz, then changed to the U1 and travelled directly to the Danube Island. Vienna's public transport network is excellent and offers a convenient way to get around the city. 🚇

🎫 Admission: Free for all 🆓

Another reason to love Veganmania is that admission is free. The event is open to everyone, with no entry fee. Whether you're a vegan 🌱 or simply curious about the vegan world, Veganmania welcomes you.

The free entry emphasises the idea that an environmentally friendly and animal-friendly lifestyle should be within everyone's reach. 🌍

👏 My conclusion: enjoyment and criticism at Veganmania 2023 on the Danube Island in Vienna

My visit to Veganmania was once again a pleasure and confirmed my love of such events. The variety of vegan delicacies thrilled me, and of course we filled our stomachs and literally „escalated“ with the impressive selection. 😋🍔🍕

Nevertheless, one critical point remains in my memory: the often „smaller“ but more expensive portions. Although they allow us to try more, I found the prices to be outrageously high. A kebab for over €10, a tiny pizza for €12 and a hot dog for €9.50 - it was all very tasty, but unfortunately also disproportionately expensive. 💲💔

Overall, it was a great experience that further fuelled my passion for vegan cuisine and sustainable living. However, I hope that in future the prices will be in proportion to the portion. 🤞🌱
