Hike to the Golling Waterfall and the Bluntau Lakes

Hike to the Golling Waterfall and the Bluntau Lakes

This time, Shaggy and I headed to the ultimate tourist hotspot: the Golling Waterfall. 😂

Yes, sometimes you just have to do that too. 🙂 Visit the very well-known places because I haven't seen them for myself yet. We combined the waterfalls with the less crowded Bluntau lakes and thus had a great, leisurely day of hiking. 🏞️

You absolutely have to watch my Reel about it on Instagram:

The hike to the waterfalls and the Blunta lakes

We combined both hikes, but each started from our respective car parks as we were running relatively late. So, if you don't want to pay parking fees twice, you can do the entire route on foot (see Komoot tour below).

We started with the waterfalls and the waterfalls themselves are very nice indeed. Unfortunately, the tour itself costs 7 euros per person and isn't particularly long. You can also combine it with the surrounding peaks, but the waterfalls on their own aren't a full day's hike. Still, ideal for a family trip. 😊

Please note: The waterfalls and the Bluntau lakes are located entirely within a grazing area! Heightened caution is required here. ⚠️

The waterfalls themselves were also quite busy, whereas the Bluntau lakes were very peaceful. 😌

Directions and parking facilities for the hike

We travelled via the motorway, exiting at Kuchl. After that, the road leads through a few 30 mph zones. CAUTION: Speed cameras are common here, and I was a few euros lighter afterwards. 😂 I was just in a bloody rush.

There is ample parking (for a fee) at the access points.

Anyone wanting a small snack or an ice cream can pop into Spitzli just before the Bluntaulose. Highly recommended by me. 🤩

My conclusion on the hike to the Golling Waterfall and the Bluntau Lakes

Yes, these places really are something special. But for me, seeing them once is enough. Unfortunately, they are entirely within grazing areas, which is just not relaxing with a dog (though there were no cows to be seen when we were there). On the other hand, it's simply a tourist hotspot. You do have to have seen it once, but then that's enough. 😄
