The beautiful waterfalls of the Traun Falls

Traunfall in Upper Austria: an unforgettable nature experience

We visited the Traunfall in Upper Austria and are bringing you impressions of this idyllic natural wonder, near Schwanenstadt, Roitham and Gmunden.

The Traunfall is so close that it's always worth a detour for us, especially when the calendar is unexpectedly empty. Reachable in just a few minutes by car, this place greets us each time with an atmosphere that is simply perfect for extensive photo and video sessions 📸🎥. Even if the Traunfalls themselves are not 100% natural, the surrounding nature is authentic and offers pure relaxation and enjoyment. An idyllic retreat that invites you to linger. So, if you don't know the Traunfall yet, you should catch up quickly.

Getting to Traunfall – How to reach the natural wonder

By car 🚗

Getting to Traunfall by car is straightforward. From Linz, take the A1 towards Salzburg, from where you'll take the exit for the B144, which will lead you directly to Traunfall. Parking is available near the starting point of the circular trail, so you'll only have a few steps to the natural spectacle. The journey takes about an hour, depending on traffic conditions.

By public transport 🚌🚉

The Traunfall is also accessible by public transport. From Linz main station, you can take a train to Roitham station. From there, there are regular bus connections that will take you close to the Traunfall. However, please note that the final section of the journey must be made on foot, which is a small adventure in itself. Allow a little extra time for your journey by public transport to fully enjoy your trip.

A visit to Traunfall – our personal highlight 🌟

Our trip to Traunfall was a complete success, even if the location isn't the first choice for extensive hikes. What makes Traunfall so special, however, are the countless opportunities to experience and capture nature in all its glory 📸🚁. We were able to take some breathtaking photos, had fun flying the drone, and thoroughly enjoyed the unique atmosphere.

The Traunfall might not be a classic hiking destination, but it provides the perfect setting for a relaxed end to a hiking tour in the surrounding area. A combination of exploring the nearby trails (be sure to check out our great hiking tips at www.muatsdrawig.at) and a final visit to the Traunfall is therefore particularly recommended. Here you can unwind, reminisce about the day's experiences, and let the natural spectacle wash over you. In short, the Traunfall is a must-see for any nature and photography enthusiast wanting to discover the beauty of Austria. 🏞️✨
