Sunset hike in Salzkammergut – the Kaltenbach wilderness on Traunsee

With the current hot summer temperatures, short, beautiful sunset hikes are very well suited. Today's tip I have for you is the Kaltenbach wildness. 🌅

The Kaltenbach wilderness is one of my favourite places in the Salzkammergut. 🫶 It's no wonder, then, that there are already numerous blog posts about it. For example, combinations with the Überraschung or the Schlosskogel, or even with both. 😄 You can also easily combine it with the Miesweg or even the Grünberg and the Laudachsee.

But for anyone who only wants a short trip: the Kaltenbach wilderness alone is absolutely breathtaking. 🤩

In this post, I'll just show you the view of the Traunsee. The Kaltenbach wilderness itself is beautiful, and I thought I simply didn't want to deprive you of the 'wow' moment. Visit the place and enjoy the surprise. ✨

The hike through the Kaltenbach wilderness

I find the Kaltenbach wilderness absolutely stunning. Right next to the Traunsee with swimming opportunities, a small, beautiful path, and also done relatively quickly. Please don't forget that it is still a hike and should be classified as alpine, even if it's rather easy. ⛰️

I find this place absolutely ideal for recharging my batteries. I really enjoy being here! 🫶

Getting there and parking for the hike to the Kaltenbach wildland

The journey is via Gmunden in the direction of Traunstein. 🚗 For cars, there are free short-stay parking spaces with a maximum parking duration of three hours, as well as paid parking spaces at the Traunstein turning circle.

Places to stop for refreshments during the hike to Kaltenbachwildnis

At the nearby Hoisn Wirt, you can refresh yourself or enjoy something warm and plant-based to eat. Ideal for a rest after your hike. 🍽️🌱
