„Upper Austria's most popular leisure fair“ for holiday inspiration, excursion tips and leisure activities in and around Austria.
As a leisure blog from Upper Austria, we couldn't miss the opportunity to visit the trade fair for holidays, excursions and leisure activities in and around Austria at the Wels exhibition centre. 🏞
You can now read about what was on offer at the holiday fair and whether it might be worth a trip to Wels for you next year.

Trade fair - topics/offer
At the trade fair „Holiday & Excursion“ trade fair visitors found the latest trends and offers for hiking & holiday regions, day trips, holiday destinations and leisure activities in and around Austria.
Whether it's a cultural city trip, a relaxing wellness holiday in the spa, an active holiday in the countryside or travelling with your own camper à la the journey is the reward 🚐 - you'll find inspiration for your next holiday for every preference.
At the same time, the trade fair „Blooming Austria - Austria's most beautiful garden fair“ instead.
Exhibitors & programme + areas
This year, the „Holiday & Excursion“ trade fair took place in Hall 20, which was divided into the following areas:
- (ORF Radio Upper Austria) holiday stage
- Holiday regions
- Tourism organisations
- Camping & outdoor accessories ⛺️
- Motorhomes & Caravans
Over 280 exhibitors provided advice and information on the latest gardening trends and holiday tips.

A varied programme took place on the holiday stage. SchürzenLiebe, for example, presented its lovingly and uniquely designed aprons, which make even a simple black dress look a little more „traditional“ - as we learnt. Tourism associations and holiday regions provided information about events, holiday options and activities. In between, you could always win little things in the competitions on offer.
Products from companies of all sizes were also represented. From start-ups such as VOJO Box for Camp or Dish Tennis to renowned companies such as Therme Geinberg, Eurothermen Resort, Ried Brewery and many more.
The Alpine Club Wels was with the Alpine Club Youth and a steep abseiling action, where you could abseil down from a height using a rope.
We were also able to experience the loving Hermi Kürner, with her Mercedes Benz 1931, unique in Europe, get to know her. A warm lady who offers tours with her faithful companion.

The garden fair „Blühendes Österreich“ will once again take place together with the leisure fair „Urlaub & Ausflug“ from Friday, 5 April to Sunday, 7 April 2024 at Messe Wels. On these days, you can also round off your visit to the fair at the Wels Folk Festival.
Our conclusion & recommendations
Unfortunately, we didn't have much time that day, but we still didn't want to miss out on this fantastic trade fair - in keeping with our leisure blog.
The holiday and excursion fair was actually smaller than we had expected, but it took quite a while to see everything.
Next time we will definitely take more time and visit the „main fair“ - 🌷 namely the „Blühendes Österreich“ trade fair, also known as the garden fair.
Despite the bad weather, we had a great day and enjoyed the event. The culinary delights were a little too short for us, but we made up for this with the numerous options in Wels city centre. It was a little too wet for us to go to the folk festival.
Be inspired by the beautifully laid out show gardens, dream of your next holiday and round off your visit to the fair with a langos at the Wels folk festival - we think it's definitely worth a day trip to Wels next year! 🎡
