At the end of February, Shaggy and I climbed the Marienköpfl with a direct view of the Eibensee from the summit. ⛰️

But it wasn't just the view of the Eibensee that made the hike so special, but also the continuous view of the Wolfgangsee and the surrounding mountain landscape such as the Schafberg, Zwölferhorn and many more during the hike. A really great and recommendable hike starting via the Kapellensteig/Eibenseesteig and returning via the forest road. I did it the other way round, but I think it's even more beautiful if you start on the path. There was even some snow on the forest road on the shady side, but that wasn't particularly problematic as I didn't need the Grödeln. Take a look at my Komoot tour below. 🏞️

Today's snack recommendation: The bars (especially the ones with chocolate) 😍) and fruit from True Love directly from the region - namely from Kremsmünster. Be sure to check it out here and try it right away (advert).

The hike to Marienköpfl and Eibensee in the Salzkammergut

The hike was my first big spring highlight with perfect weather. I was able to walk the fantastic route in short sleeves at the end of February. Lake Eibensee was still a little frozen over and the view was simply fantastic. 🤩

Directions and parking facilities at Eibensee near Fuschl

The journey was relatively easy - I took the A1 motorway to Mondsee and then the rest towards St. Gilgen via the main road. At the roundabout, take the first exit towards Fuschl until you see the car park directly on the main road at the entrance (see also my Komoot tour below). This is currently free of charge. 🚗

Travelling by public transport should also be possible.

My summary of the Eibensee hike

The hike was really great. A small peak for in between with a „hidden“ mountain lake 🙂 My absolute recommendation for this little insider tip.
