Anyone who knows the Schwarzensee will appreciate the great atmosphere and the cosy walk - it's not unusual to stop off at the end of your walk at the world-famous Lore and its guest garden for a snack and a cup of coffee.

Great hike to and around the Schwarzensee via the Sattelweg 🥾🏃‍♀️

If the short loop around the lake isn't enough for you, you'll get your money's worth here on our route. A great little 3-4 hour hike (depending on your fitness level) to the Schwarzensee invites you to enjoy.
From great views, beautiful forest paths and sometimes rocky passages (for experienced hikers), everything is represented. Normal hikers can cool off in summer and adrenaline junkies can cool off at the turning point - the Schwarzensee lake - at other times of the year.

All in all, nothing stands in the way of a successful hike with friends, family and dogs 🦮 - if you are travelling with a pushchair or are less experienced, you should avoid the rocky passages and stick to the normal forest path.

⚠️ ATTENTION: We expressly point out that we accept no liability for accidents or possibly closed trails. Before hiking, check the availability of the trail and reflect on your own fitness.

Access / car park - hiking at the Schwarzensee:

The start of our tour is at the car park at Schwarzenbach 27, 5360 St. Wolfgang im Salzkammergut. From here, cross the road and follow the Koomot route that we have created for you. (see below)

Hiking trail and suitability:

In principle, the trail is easy to walk for normal people - but hikers with little fitness or health restrictions will not have much fun here.
For fitter hikers, this is a great route for a great „normal“ hike.

In our opinion, the route is suitable for children and dogs. However, children should already be well on their feet, as a pushchair is difficult to manoeuvre through the rocky paths.

With a bit of luck, you may see wild animals such as deer, hares, squirrels, lizards, snakes 🐍 and slow worms on the way to and from the Schwarzensee. If you stay on the paths and don't disturb the animals in their homes, we would classify the path as safe.

On the route along the Sattelweg you will find rubbish bins where you can dispose of rubbish that accumulates on the hike. We urge you not to dispose of rubbish in the forest under any circumstances - including unused tissues or toilet paper behind the bushes after using the toilet. 💩

Refreshments after the hike at Schwarzensee:

Before or after the Schwarzensee circular trail, you can stop off at the Almstadl guest garden or at the Lore for a cosy snack, with coffee and cake for dessert, and recharge your batteries before the return journey. Well-fed and refreshed, you then return to the car park along the same route.

You can find impressions directly below on the Komoot route and in our picture gallery.
