The spa and tourism municipality in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel invites you to a quiet and relaxed family holiday.
Advertisement: My sister, her daughter and our mother visited the Moorbad Harbach region on behalf of muats drawig and spent five days testing the area to find out how suitable the municipality and surrounding region are for a relaxed family holiday.
That the municipality places great importance on health and activities is also shown by the Xundwärts programme for natural movement, genuine zest for life, and a unique range of activities in the heart of the Waldviertel.

Family holiday in the Moorbad Harbach region
Arriving in the region, one thing immediately stands out: the tranquil location and unspoilt nature. So anyone who places great value on a quiet active holiday is definitely in the right place here. You won't find large shopping malls here, but instead a wide range of leisure activities, whether it's a motor skills park, a wide variety of hiking tours, cycling or running routes, as well as the well-known Holzmühlteich pond or the summit of the Nebelstein.

Staying in the Moorbad Harbach region
Arriving in the municipality, we headed straight to the first accommodation, namely the Cafe & Pension Kristall, right next to the Kristallium glas.erleben including its own swimming pond. The heart of the guest house is the glass experience world, where you can also visit an exhibition (adults 9 euros and children 7 euros) and even cut a piece of glass yourself (for an extra charge). So if you like looking at sparkling glass figures and other works of glass art, this is the right place for you. However, the guest house is more suited to older people without children.

Unfortunately, this accommodation itself does not offer any plant-based dishes, which is a great shame. Please enquire in advance here to see if vegan alternatives might be available.
Fairy Tale Hotel Nebelstein
The fairytale hotel Nebelstein is ideal for small children. The third day of the stay also starts right here. Children's hearts really blossom here. The range of facilities extends from an indoor pool, a minigolf course and a playground to a fairytale exhibition, a playroom in the restaurant and much more.

This hotel even offers vegan dishes. Absolutely top-notch! There is also a vegan selection at the breakfast buffet, although it would be advantageous to state this in advance (directly when booking), as the selection will then be specially expanded. There is also reduced-sugar jam at breakfast, which is equally unusual.

Experiences in the region
Right on the first day after arrival, we headed to the Xundwärts motor skills park in Hirschenwies. The following days were just as packed with adventures such as the Holzmühle swimming pond, the Kristallium, the town of Weitra, mini-golf, swimming in the indoor pool, playgrounds, a hike to the Nebelstein summit cross and the fairytale exhibition.
You can find all offers in the region very clearly presented here.
