I love races like this - because every participant is a winner, so it's more about having fun and taking part than finishing first. This year's foodora Linzathlon was once again a dream come true for every obstacle runner and enthusiastic spectator.
We weren't first and we weren't among the top places, but we were still winners 🏆 - for ourselves, because we conquered the foodora Linzathlon once again. Together. 🤝
This year, according to my Apple Watch ⌚️ 9.77 km and 162 metres in altitude. I have burnt a whopping 610 calories 🔥 in a time of 1 hour and 20 minutes. In fact, we could have gained a few more minutes if there hadn't been a bit of a traffic jam at some of the obstacles - so we weren't running for time, but for fun.
Who has already read my report from last year know that we came across this great event by chance. Back then, we had won tickets 🎟️ and therefore took part. This year was different, as we had already registered for all 3 races in autumn. Namely for the foodora Linzathlon, the GRAWE Grazathlon and the Innsbruckathlon.

What is the foodora Linzathlon 2023 anyway?
With the Beat The City Apply are obstacle courses in the city centres of Linz, Innsbruck and Graz. The routes are all about 10 km long and include 20+ natural and artificial obstacles. The cities are closed to traffic 🚗 and guarded and controlled by countless security personnel and police officers 👮♀️. Top performance and great work, as far as the entire staff here!
In addition to children's competitions, there are main races for adults in various categories and starting blocks. From professional athletes to groups who just want to „get through somehow“, everyone is represented.

NEW this year
For the first time since 2023 5 km competitions - This means that even less athletic enthusiasts can enjoy a little bit of that Ninja Warrior feeling.
What if I can't manage an obstacle?
That is absolutely no problem! As long as you are not in the first starting block (top athletes fighting for first place), you are allowed to help. It stands Explicitly the fun and if you fail an obstacle, it's not a problem - you won't be disqualified. There are so many helpful athletes on the entire course who are very happy to help others overcome the obstacles.
I want to start in the elite starting block, what do I have to consider?
Basically you will find here all information about the elite starting block. You must either have already completed one of the Athlons in a certain time or have an official competition time.
Men: 5+ km run with a pace of under 4:20 minutes
Women: 5+ km run with a pace of under 5 minutes

How much does the beat the city application cost?
The prices depend on the time of registration - the earlier you book, the cheaper the prices. The price for next year without discount is currently € 62,- plus chip fee. If you want to register for all 3 competitions, you currently pay € 245,- (as of 23.05.2023).
Directions to the foodora Linzathlon
Getting there is pretty easy. If, like us, you are travelling by train 🚂, you can take the tram to the main square until 12:30. If you are travelling later and have already booked your picked up his starting number at the Linzerie, can also easily reach the starting point on foot 👣. It takes about 30 minutes from the main railway station.

Organisation of the Linzathlon 2023
The organisation of the entire Linzathlon was once again excellent - you had the option of storing your luggage 🧳 at the Arcotel. There was plenty of seating at the starting point and at the end of the run you could use the showers of the park pool.
All the refreshment stations were well placed and stocked with water, energy drinks and bananas. At the finish there was also Red Bull in a can and Dr Boehm Magnesium Sport drinks.
Despite the great organisation, I actually have 2 points of criticism: There was no screen in the stage area this year for the spectators to follow the event throughout 🎥 and even though it is often more advertising than a benefit, I also missed the classic start bag. 🎒
There were more photographers and cameras 📸 than last year - I thought that was really great!

My summary of the foodora Linzathlon 2023 - was it worth it?
Definitely. I can absolutely recommend the run. Anyone who would like to try something new or wants to prove something to themselves is absolutely in the right place here. 🤩
It's a competition where you can give it your all and at the same time make others happy by being helpful 🤝. I will definitely be running these competitions a few more times and there's also a nice side effect: for a small fee, you get extremely great photos of the Sportsographers. I have shown you a few of them in this article.
Now the question arises: will I see you at the start next time?
