In this blog post, I would like to tell you about our last visit to the Escape House Vorchdorf, what experiences we had and what you can experience there.
First of all, it was not our first and certainly not our last visit to the Escape House Vorchdorf. Of course, I won't be divulging any details about the various adventures here and I won't be spoiling anything, so that you too can enjoy the puzzle rooms to the full.
Directions and parking facilities
By car
On the A1 motorway, whether coming from Vienna/Linz or Salzburg, take the exit in Vorchdorf. At the next roundabout, take the third exit and then follow the road for about 300 metres and turn right. From here it is only about half a kilometre and you have reached your destination.
Parking facilities
The municipality of Vorchdorf offers plenty of parking spaces where you can easily leave your car and only have to walk short distances.
By public transport
Reaching the Escape House Vorchdorf by public transport is also no problem at all. Simply take the train to Lambach Markt, change here and continue on the next train. Get off at Vorchdorf Schule station. Now a short walk of 400 metres and you have reached your destination by public transport.
The themed rooms in the Escape House Vorchdorf
Here is a small insight into the variety of puzzle fun on offer. For young and old, for a family outing or simply to try something new with friends. Different rooms, different levels of difficulty - let's start with the easiest and work our way up to the hardest.
Hangover
A perfect puzzle adventure for beginners aged 16 and over for a weekend trip with friends.
Tutankhamun's burial chamber
For beginners without age restrictions, for 2 - 6 players and perfect for the whole family.
We thought to ourselves, why start with beginners and began with the medium-difficulty topics. We have already conquered the next three puzzle rooms. Let's start with our first adventure in the Escape House Vorchdorf.
Western Bank
For experienced players without age restrictions. Texas 1868, you're in a bandit gang and your goal is to rob a bank and not get caught. There were three of us and I'd say we didn't do too badly for our first attempt - at least I don't think so. Despite initial difficulties, we managed to complete the puzzle in around 55 minutes with the help of 2 hints. I can still remember being completely blown away. I love puzzles and riddles in general, but the Escape House Vorchdorf had me under its spell from the very first room.
The magical Winkelgasse
For experienced children aged 10 and over accompanied by an adult. You can probably already guess what this is all about. But in case you have absolutely no idea, it's about the magical world of Harry Potter - a truly magical room. I did this one without Eli and believe me, he'll hold that against me forever. I grew up with Harry Potter, so it was a particularly cool experience. It was all the nicer that it was a birthday present from my friends - a successful surprise. There were 5 of us and we had 60 minutes to solve the puzzles. What can I say, we gave it our all. This room simply has it all - cool puzzles, insane mechanics and great effects. You're completely satisfied with 62 minutes and, as we learnt afterwards, we did really well. This adventure will bring some people to their knees and may even push you to your limits.
Jack the Ripper
For those aged 12 and over. The last room we have tackled so far. This time, of course, with Eli and Jasmin again. I find the stories, films and everything to do with Jack the Ripper so interesting. I love detective stories and the suspense behind such topics. So what better mystery for me than this one? - None, the room was made for me. Eli came to me and asked me if we could go to Vorchdorf again to really push our brain cells to the limit. Of course, I was immediately on board. When the decision was made in favour of Jack the Ripper, the anticipation was huge. Such an extensive room, great and really difficult puzzles. We were really stumped 2-3 times and unfortunately needed a bit of help, but we managed it in just under 57 minutes and thus completed the second room with flying colours.
Saw
For experts aged 16 and over. Not for the faint-hearted. A horror puzzle and currently the most difficult at Escape House Vorchdorf. I'm really looking forward to this adventure. But first of all, it's the turn of the two beginners. I think a good tip is to save Saw for the grand finale - that's what we're going to do.
Villa of madness
May I introduce, brand new in the range. A lonely villa where mysterious things happen - truth or madness? Find out. For experienced players and recommended for ages 14 and up. Unfortunately, we haven't played the room yet, but it must be quite something. Instead of the normal 60 minutes, you have a whopping 100 minutes of puzzle fun ahead of you. I can't wait to see what awaits us here. In terms of difficulty, the villa is somewhere between the magical Winkelgasse and Jack the Ripper.
Costs and personnel
The prices
Are very different. Depending on the adventure and the number of players, you can expect to pay between €22 and €39 per person for the 6 „normal“ rooms. The Villa of Madness costs between €82.50 and €42 per person, depending on the number of participants. I can only speak for the three adventures I have already played, but the price here is absolutely fair. When you consider how much effort it took to set up each room and how much heart went into decorating everything. The mechanics, effects and everything are simply perfectly harmonised. Every puzzle team turns everything upside down, which of course has to be put back in its place. Personally, I think the prices are more than okay and you can't complain.
Personnel
This is clearly my greatest praise and a huge thank you. I can't remember seeing so much passion at work before. Before each adventure, you get a little introductory story to help you understand what it's about. We've had the pleasure of working with Kritzi and Anna so far. When the two of them tell you a story, you don't just find it interesting. No, you're right in the middle of the adventure. They create an atmosphere that really makes you think it's 1868 and you're in the Wild West, on a broom across Hogwarts or that you're on the trail of a serial offender. It's so great how much commitment is shown here for each room for each group - you can only take your hat off to them. We also got to know Martina last time, who is in no way inferior to either of them. Unbelievably friendly, full of commitment and you can tell that everyone loves what they do here. You simply feel at home with this team.
My conclusion about the Escape House Vorchdorf
I think you've noticed my enthusiasm by now and I don't need to say much more about it. I love all kinds of puzzles. But what the Escape House in Vorchdorf has achieved is „next level“. From the staff to the perfectly furnished rooms - the mechanisms and effects - tricky and complex puzzles - right through to the price, everything is just right here. For me, it's one of the best experiences there is. An exciting family outing, a puzzle evening with friends or perhaps just trying something new. This excursion destination is one of my absolute highlights. Are you also a bit of a puzzle nerd or have you simply been bitten by the puzzle bug and are curious - then take a look at Escape House Vorchdorf and try your luck.😁
If you still haven't had enough of puzzles, then the blog post about the VR Escape in Linz just the right thing for you.
