I was again on the Gro\u00dfer Schoberstein (this time without another summit) with the start in Wei\u00dfenbach am Attersee.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I had already been to the Gro\u00dfer Schoberstein with Shaggy in winter, including the Mahdlgupf, and I had decided that if I ever came here alone, I would try the Kleiner Schoberstein too. In fact, I turned back at the start of the Kleiner Schoberstein because I found it far too steep and dangerous. The Kleiner Schoberstein is NOT recommended if you don't have sufficient experience with very exposed sections, as there is a high risk of falling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gro\u00dfer Schoberstein, on the other hand, is really great. There are also some exposed sections here, which are manageable for me if you are careful.<\/p>\n\n\n

The hike to the Gro\u00dfer Schoberstein<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The hike can be ideally combined with many other peaks. The most common ones are Mahdlgupf, Dachsteinblick, and Brennerin. For me, however, the one peak was perfectly sufficient on this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The start is in Wei\u00dfenbach am Attersee and it goes directly through the forest, continuously and relatively steeply uphill, until you reach the rock at the top. From there the view is absolutely brilliant and it's not far to the summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you reach the top, it gets a bit steep and also involves some scrambling. In my opinion, it's relatively safe if you have a good foot and head for heights, until you finally reach the summit.<\/p>\n\n\n

Those who wish can, of course, cool off in the Attersee after the hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directions and parking for reaching the Gro\u00dfer Schoberstein<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Coming from Vienna, I took the Sch\u00f6rfling motorway exit. If I were travelling from Salzburg, I would probably exit at Mondsee and then continue on the main road from whichever exit I took to the car park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking at the entry point is available, but limited and chargeable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
